Good afternoon Narwhal families,
On Monday, August 14th, students will be able to access their schedules for the upcoming year through Infinite Campus. Please know that careful consideration has been given to ensuring that our classes and teams are balanced to provide the best experience for our students this school year. As you review your student’s schedule with them, please take note of their team assignment. Team assignment information may be found on the update attached below. This information will be very helpful to them when they arrive at Marsh Creek for the first time.
If you have any concerns related to your child’s schedule, please fill out the form through the link listed below, and on our website. We will use this Google Form to address any conflicts, and our counseling and office teams will address concerns as we receive them prior to the start of the school year.

Student Orientations
As a reminder, we will be hosting student orientations next week so that students can tour the building and find their team’s location within the building. Parents, if you would like to walk through the school with your student prior to the first day of school, our building will be open for self-guided tours on Friday, August 18th from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. More information is available on our website.
Back to School Nights - SAVE THE DATE
If your child is in the Blue (B) House, our Open House for parent visitation is Tuesday, August 29th (6:30-7:30 pm). If your child is in the Gold (G) House, our Open House is Wednesday, August 30st (6:30-7:30).
We will be sending out additional Back to School information as we approach the first day of school, Monday, August 28th. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and have a wonderful day!

August 23, 2023 - 1st Day of School, Back to School Nights and Pickup Patrol
Good afternoon everyone,
It was great meeting so many incoming Narwhals at orientation last week, and we hope it has been a great summer for your family. Our staff is so excited to welcome our new students on August 28th! There is a great deal of information to communicate in this week's email, and please make sure to visit our website at https://mc.dasd.org/ to access important dates and information for our community. Each week, we will also be adding information into our Narwhal Newsletter, attached to our weekly communication. This week, you can find information related to our first day of school, and parent pick up procedures for students.
Open House Nights for Parents 6:30-7:30pm.
Tuesday - 8/29 (Blue House, Teams C/D/G/H)
Wednesday - 8/30 (Gold House, Teams A/B/E/F)
Arrival at Marsh Creek on the 1st day of school
Please review our Narwhal Newsletter for what students need to know for their first day, and where they will report when they get to Marsh Creek for the first time.
Chromebooks
Please make sure that Chromebooks are charged each night, including next week. Any newly-registered students will receive their Chromebooks the first week of school.
Cell phone procedure
All cell phones should be turned off and placed in students’ bookbags, inside of their school lockers during the academic day. Should you need to communicate with your student during the school day, please contact the school by phone (610-646-0080).
There will be no after school activities the first two weeks of school.
More information will be sent home about clubs and intramurals over the next two weeks, and we are looking forward to sharing more information about the variety of opportunities available to our students.
Parent Pick-up Procedure
If you are picking up at regular dismissal time, you do not need to send a note to the office. You should have your child meet you at the parent pick up/drop-off area (see map included in this week’s newsletter).
Pick Up - Patrol
In our continual effort to create the safest environment possible for our students, we will be using the Pick-Up Patrol system for three important processes: early dismissal reporting, absence reporting, and end-of-day dismissal plans for students. PickUp Patrol (PUP) will help you (and us) save time, reduce classroom interruptions, provide you with a convenient way to make changes to your children’s dismissal plans, and keep everyone informed about what’s happening in real time. Most importantly, it will help us ensure that our students are safely dismissed to their correct after-school destinations.
The Pick Up Patrol App is your “one stop shop” for:
ATTENDANCE: Notify the school office when your child will be absent, arriving late, or leaving early.
DISMISSAL CHANGES: Submit changes to your child’s regular dismissal plans.
For example:
- Your child normally rides the bus, but is getting picked up by a parent today.
How it will work:
You’ll enter your child's regular routine dismissal plan into the system. This is called their Default Plan. Then whenever you have a change to the Default Plan, you’ll simply submit it through the PUP app.
How you’ll get started:
- REGISTER: On Wednesday, August 23, 2023 you will receive a registration email with a link to set up your account. Be sure to check your SPAM and/or Junk Mail folders if you don’t receive an email. Please Allow List this email address for future communications.
- The web app is free to parents and you can use it from your smartphone or computer.
- For easy access, follow the instructions in your registration email for how to add it to your phone’s home screen
- PUP is not accessed through the app stores.
- ENTER DEFAULT PLANS: Once you register, log into your PickUp Patrol account by Sunday, August 27, 2023 to confirm your child’s default dismissal plan. This is a super important step so that we can accurately dismiss your children.
With the implementation of Pick-Up Patrol, the mc_attendance@dasd.org email address will now only be used for sending us doctor excuse notes for previous absences and for submitting advance family trip forms.
Extended Absences/Vacations: After you submit an Educational and Family Trip Form, one of our principals will review the request for compliance to attendance policies. We will notify the parent/guardian with approval or denial of the request. If an absence/vacation request exceeds ten total days of absences for the student, those absences must be classified as unexcused.

I hope that everyone enjoys their last days of summer before our students officially become Narwhals!
Take care,
Matt Barr
